Photographing high school senior photo sessions is one of my favorite things. I love working with all the different styles and bringing out their personalities in front of my camera. And while senior photos are meant to be a fun way to mark this milestone in your life, sometimes preparing for them can be a little stressful. So here are three things you should NOT worry about before your photo shoot:
Where to Go or What to Wear.
Finding the perfect location or outfit can be stressful, but don’t worry! I am here to help you! Before your session, I will send out a questionnaire to help me get to know you better. Then, we will chat about what kind of images you’ve been dreaming of, and I can suggest locations to fit those images. Maybe that’s somewhere meaningful to you (think of a favorite place to hang out or a special place from your childhood). Or a place you can be comfortable (like somewhere not too busy, where no one is watching you). Maybe it’s somewhere adventurous (hello, mountain tops in Colorado or walking along the beach in Florida). I’ll also send you emails with clothing ideas and other session preparation tips. So you can rest assured that I’m here to help you at every step!
How to Pose.
The number one thing my seniors say they worry about is not knowing how to pose, especially in the world of Influencers and the perfect Instagram pic. You don’t have to know ANYTHING about posing when you come in for your session!
I’ll teach you all the basics and show you all the tips and tricks to ensure we’ve got you in the most flattering pose. Then, all you have to do is bring your smile and personality; I’ll do the rest!
Blemishes/Bad Skin.
High school seniors are often concerned that they have bad skin or blemishes for their senior photos, which can cause them to stress out and not be their authentic selves during the photo shoot.
Let me start by saying, “don’t worry!” Every image you order will have full retouching done (which includes blemish removal!) at NO extra charge – so nothing to worry about! If you are concerned about acne, I recommend washing your face regularly, using a good moisturizer daily, and drinking plenty of water. Have only a couple of blemishes? Use a concealer to help cover them up and aid in retouching.
Relax and have fun! Let your photographer lead you through the process.
Senior pictures can be a little intimidating for people who aren’t used to being in front of the camera, but simply relax and enjoy yourself! Don’t worry about the small details; I’ll help guide you through the process and make sure we capture great photographs of you.
I hope this article has given you some helpful tips for your photo session. I want you to have an amazing experience and love your images. If you have any more questions or concerns about anything else, let me know! I love talking with my clients and making them feel comfortable before their session.
