Allison & Nick | Iowa Wedding at the ISU Campus

I am so excited to share this Iowa wedding with you today! Ally and Nick were married a little over a month ago on a warm summer day at the Iowa State University Campus in Ames. This was the perfect setting for this couple who actually met during their college years at ISU.

The day started out as a cloud covered, but very humid day (very typical for an Iowa wedding!) so we were glad all the festivities were planned for inside the Scheman Building on campus. The cloud cover was a blessing though because it helped keep the temps down and provided us with some super pretty soft light all day!

Originally we had planned on doing all the photos at the Scheman Building, showcasing it’s fun, urban architecture, but Ally had a last minute change of heart that provided us with an even better opportunity! The night before, the couple’s rehearsal dinner had been hosted at Reiman Gardens, a botanic garden on campus, and Ally thought it would be a great place to do the wedding party photos. Plus it was right down the road from the Scheman so getting there would be easy. I loved the idea of bringing some color into their photos (especially with the bright colored bouquets and the guys’ blue vests), not to mention the open park setting gave us more options for backgrounds and poses. Luckily, the rain held out just long enough!

Once their ceremony was over, it was time to party! Ally and Nick have a huge group of friends and you can tell they all love to have fun. Right after the ceremony, they boarded the party bus for a little celebratory fun before the reception. I have never seen a group of people have such a blast together. And the fun carried on throughout the whole night! From the hilarious impromptu group dances, to the appearance of the bride-and-groom-heads on sticks props, to everyone standing in a circle and singing “Friends in Low Places” – this was seriously one of the most energetic receptions I have been to. And I hear the party carried on after the reception into the early morning hours. That’s what weddings are all about – celebrating!

Congratulation Nick and Ally! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your amazing day. I wish you a lifetime of health, wealth, and most of all happiness! Keep the party going!
