Fall in Love with this outdoor Colorado Elopement

Fall is by far my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp air and of course the apple cider – I love everything about fall! So when Angela from Bella Lu Floral contacted me with a great idea for a fall wedding styled shoot of course I said yes! She had been dreaming of a couple walking down a gorgeous leaf aisle, saying “I Do” under an archway of trees and celebrating at a beautiful harvest table. She came to me with this idea at the beginning of October last year, and knowing that fall color can be very fleeting here in the metro, we jumped into action right away.

Often times with a styled shoot, the designer is creating with a specific publication in mind. In this instance, Angela envisioned this whole concept as something that would grace the pages of Rocky Mountain Bride Magazine, so of course they were the first publication we submitted to. We were so excited to find out they accepted our submission, but of course that meant we had to keep it under wraps until the fall issue this year. I’m so excited to say that our shoot is being featured in the most recent issue of Rocky Mountain Bride Magazine and I can finally share the shoot with all of you!

Angela’s vision was all about an intimate elopement in the Colorado outdoors. She designed a beautiful aisle made of fallen leaves, an alter decorated with hanging florals, and a harvest table to die for. Keeping with the fall theme, Angela wanted to bring in lots of texture and color. Pairing rattan place mats with crisp white place settings and a lush centerpiece made up of rich autumn colored florals in a wooden bowl to decorate the harvest table. I designed the menu and place cards which incorporated a script style font for a little bit of elegance and printed on linen card stock to add in some texture.

Carrying the intimate elopement idea through the bride and groom’s attire was important as well. Angela wanted them to be stylish but not stuffy. The groom wore gray slacks, a crisp white shirt, brown suspenders and a stylish bow tie. I loved his boutonniere that incorporated a fall leaf into the design. The bride wore a beautiful handmade dress designed by Maggie Evans Designs. I loved the ruffled neckline that gave it some style without being too over the top for the outdoor setting.

It’s very common for a bride to change her hairstyle from a structured updo to something more casual after the ceremony and we wanted to play off that idea as well. Angela designed a gorgeous floral crown that went beautifully with the brides loose curl look.
