Kelly and Adam are one of my lovely 2013 wedding couples. I have actually known Kelly for years, we used to be in the same 4-H Club back when I was in high school. I was very honored that she thought of me when they started planning their wedding and wanted me to photograph their day. For their engagement session they knew they wanted to do something low key. Since their family farm is a very important part of their life, they wanted to do part of the session there and get some images of one of their dogs too. It’s always great when couples bring in personal elements into their session. The morning of their session, Iowa was getting a nice little ice storm so we decided to reschedule for the following week. The next week wasn’t icy but it sure was cold! So we started the session in the studio and then finished up going to the nearby farm. Kelly was worried that we wouldn’t be able to find any good areas for photographs, but their farm has a lot of character so it wasn’t a problem. My favorite images are from the last set in the barn’s haymow. We opened one of the doors and got some beautiful lighting. I can’t wait for their June wedding (and the weather should be much warmer then!)
