Highlighting personal style is what this high school senior photo session is all about

Meet Eryn, a current CGD High School senior and a part of my Class of 2016 Senior Model Team in Iowa. He’s a member of the baseball and golf teams as well as the President of his school’s FFA chapter. On weekends you can find him hunting, playing paintball with his friends or in his garage working on restoring his ’66 Ford Mustang.

As with all my senior sessions, I love making the session all about them, reflecting their personalities and hobbies. Since Eryn is an avid paintballer and hunter, we definitely wanted to work that into the session. We headed out to a local park where we could get the thick forest feel we were going for. I also loved the field of tall grass that was in the same area, that way we could get a variety of looks without going to a completely different location.

Eryn is a pretty laid back, easy going person and his style definitely reflects that. He pretty much lives in t-shirts and jeans so of course that’s what he brought for his session, which was perfect!

One of my favorite places to shoot are in back alleyways because of all the different textures and colors – and typically the grungier the better! A lot of times my senior parents will look at me and ask “Really? We’re doing the photos here?” but when they see the final product they are blown away with how I turned that “grungy alley” into something pretty cool.
