This is my first year of participating in the Adorable National Children’s contest put on by my lab and I can’t tell you how excited I am. This past week I’ve had my first couple of children’s sessions for it (you can see the first two with the past couple of blog posts) and this weekend I had a chance to photograph two more little ones.
First up we have Parker, the son of one of my best friends from college. He is such a cutie, but he’s too smart for his own good. He knows that when the camera comes out he’ll be expected to smile, so of course he does the opposite. And he’s already learning how to get what he wants – during the session we’d try to put him down on the ground, he’d cry and fuss, then as soon as mom would pick him up he’d have the biggest smile on his face (until the camera came out that is). But never fear! Daddy came to the rescue and we got some awesome smiles out of little Parker.
Also this weekend I got to meet Carter, an energetic 3 year old. At first he didn’t know what to think of the studio set up but after a few minutes he started to loosen up and show me his true, crazy colors. I love how unexpected children’s sessions can be. You never know what will happen and it definitely keeps you on your toes as a photographer. I love interacting with the little ones and acting all crazy to get them to give me big genuine smiles. These are just a few of my favorites from Carter’s session. I absolutely love the last one! 🙂
