Katie & Brent say “I Do” on the farm

In my last blog post I introduced you to Katie and Brent, a wonderful fun loving couple that loves the great outdoors. Today’s post is a blog of my favorite images and moments from their beautiful outdoor Iowa farm wedding.

Katie and Brent had a gorgeous September day for their wedding. The sun was shining, big puffy clouds floated through the bright blue sky, and the temperatures were nice and warm. Growing up in a farming family, it was only fitting that Katie wanted to say “I Do” in an outdoor ceremony that reminded her of home. The Jenison Meacham Memorial Art Center in Belmond, Iowa provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s nuptials with it’s quintessential red and white barns, antique implements and a beautiful wildflower field.

Katie got ready in her grandmother’s home which not only had been in her family for years, but also was where her grandmother got ready on her wedding day. It was so much fun to hear her grandmother’s stories as Katie got ready. She even got out her wedding album to show me an image that was taken of her and her mother in the entry way of the home. I loved the story of a 2nd generation getting ready in the same home on such a special day and knew we had to take a similar photo of Katie and her grandmother adjusting the veil in the entry way.

Being a laid back, outdoorsy couple, Katie and Brent decided to dress in things that made them comfortable. The guys wore dark washed jeans dressed up with sharp navy vests while Katie wore her favorite pair of cowboy boots under her dress. The perfect attire for an outdoor wedding that’s for sure! I also love how they brought bright pops of color in to their design with wonderful wildflower bouquets and small sunflower boutonnieres.
