A look back at Roxi’s First Year

Little ones change so much over the course of their first year that’s why I love my First Year Collection – a set of 4 photo sessions during baby’s first year to document all their little changes. I love seeing them grow and being able to capture all the different stages – sleepy baby, expressive 4 months old, the sitting/crawling 6 month old, and the standing or possibly even walking 1 year old.

Meet little Roxi. She surprised us all and came a little bit earlier than planned. When we did her newborn session she was the best baby! She easily drifted off to sleep, stayed nice and snuggly for me so we could do a couple different set ups and even gave me a few little grins! It just made my heart melt. Her mom had bought a beautiful hair tie that she wanted to incorporate into all her sessions – such a great idea! Roxi’s little stuffed dog also made cameos in all of her sessions as well!

For her four month session we opted to stay indoors since it was late fall and a little chilly out. But never the less we got some really cute images, especially of the family together. Roxi was mostly all giggles and grins for this session but did take a little cat nap at the end. Modeling is such hard work!

At the eight month session we were able to be back outdoors (yay for spring!). Since she was an active crawler by that point, we needed to give her things to do and hold on to to keep her from crawling away. She loved playing with the blocks and investigating the flowers we gave her.

The one year session was by far my favorite! They wanted to throw Roxi a little birthday party with all her friends, so they came with balloons and party hats. I LOVE this set up! It was perfect – simple, colorful and so much fun. For the rest of the session we kept it pretty natural, incorporating a beautiful cream dress that matched her hair tie, and then finished off the session with a few family photos.

A huge shoutout and THANK YOU to Roxi and her family for giving me the pleasure and honor of photographing this time in your life. I had so much fun watching Roxi grow over the course of the year and can’t wait to see you again!
