Meet Louis! Louis came to me for senior portraits with the main goal of getting something nice for the yearbook. He didn’t need or want a ton of different outfits or locations so the Short & Sweet session was perfect for him.
One of his requests was to shoot somewhere that had a great view of the St Croix River. However, down by the river in mid November is a little lackluster. By then, most of the leaves had lost their vibrant color and the Stillwater Lift Bridge was still partially under construction, so shooting by the river in downtown wasn’t super exciting to me. However, Louis had the PERFECT location – his house which has AMAZING views of the river and downtown Stillwater.
One downside to shooting senior portraits in late fall/early winter in Minnesota is you never know what the weather is going to be like. The day of Louis’ session it was a little cloudy and quite chilly. We got some peeks of sun at the beginning of the session but once it disappeared under the clouds it didn’t take long for the chill to set in. When that happens we shoot fast and Louis was a trooper, throwing on his coat in between shots to warm up. While the session went quickly, we got everything we needed for his yearbook photo and a few prints for their home in a short amount of time.
